Climate
'Slip, Slop, Slap' during summer from December to February with temperatures ranging from 4oC to 36oC. The Australian winter can be experienced in the Southern regions from June to August. Pleasant mild weather can be enjoyed throughout spring and autumn.

Language

What To Wear
Casual light clothing in cotton or linen is best through summer. A light sweater or winter woollies may be required during cooler seasons. Except for really formal occasions, casual wear is pretty much the norm in Australia.

The electrical current in Australia is 220-240 volts AC, 50 cycles per second. Power plugs with two flat angled blades and one vertical grounding blade are used in Australia.

Carry-on Baggage
All carry-on baggage to and from Australia on international flights is only permitted to contain liquids in small containers of 100ml (3.5 fl oz) sealed in a clear bag. Refer to the Australian Government's Department of Transport and Regional Services for more detailed information.

Drinking Water
It is quite safe to drink water from the tap in Australia.

Prohibited Items
The Australian law prohibits anyone entering the country with drugs, steroids, weapons, firearms, and protected wildlife. Common items such as fresh or packaged food, fruit, eggs, meat, vegetables, seeds, skins and feathers are also prohibited. It is wise to declare any items at the Customs if you have any qualms about it. Passport Information
A valid passport is required by all. Passport should be valid for at least six months inclusive for those in transit to neighbouring countries. Return ticket required. Contact the Australian Embassy or your travel agent.

Visa And Entry Facilities
Visas may be applied for at the immigration department or online through the Electronic Travel Authority System before arrival in Australia. It is recommended that you contact the Australian Embassy or your travel agent regarding visa applications and requirements before leaving home.

Australian Currency
The currency in Australia is the Australian Dollar (AUD) which is available in dollars and cents. Dollar notes are obtainable in denominations of AUD5, AUD10, AUD20, AUD50 and AUD100. Coins are in denominations of 5, 10, 20, 50 cents as well as AUD1 and AUD2.
