Various mode of local and modern transportation are available at different locations.
Climate
An uniform climate around 31oC along coastal regions and decreasing slightly further inland at higher altitudes. Hot and wet season starts from October to April. Hot and dry season is between May to September.
Language
English, Balinese, Javanese and 365 other dialects, with Bahasa Indonesian as the official national language.
What To Wear
Light casual clothes is recommended. Formal dress code may be required for some city destinations and business meetings. It is advisable to check beforehand on dress regulations.
Common Courtesies
Handshaking is a customary greeting in Indonesia. Avoid using your left hand for handshakes or when giving and receiving anything.
Scanty clothing is not advisable. Shorts are not allowed in religious places. It is disrespectful to climb over monuments or places of worship. In Bali, waist sashes should be worn when visiting temples.
Electricity
Indonesia voltage is 127-230 volts AC, 50 cycles per second. Two-pin, round-shaped type power plugs are used in Indonesia.
Drinking Water
Tap water is not recommended for drinking. Bottled mineral water is available at supermarkets and grocers.
Passport Information
Valid passport required by all. Passport should be valid for at least six months even for those in transit to neighbouring countries. Return ticket required. Contact the Embassy before departure.
Visa And Entry Facilities
Some overseas visitors may be able to obtain a visa upon arrival in Indonesia at designated international airports and seaports only, with at least six months validity remaining on passports. Validity of the Visa On Arrival is 30-days. All payment must be made in US dollars upon arrival in its exact amount. Contact the Embassy or Tour East before departure.
Banking
Operating time of banks vary from different locations. Do check with the intended bank upon arrival in Indonesia.
Indonesian Currency
The Indonesian currency in Rupiah is available in bank notes with denominations of Rp1,000, Rp2,000, Rp5,000, Rp10,000, Rp20,000, Rp50,000 and Rp100,000. |
