Getting Around
With a wide range of transportation, you can travel around the cities within Korea with ease.
Climate
The climate of Korea is characterised by four distinct seasons: spring, summer, fall and winter. Spring lasts from March to mid-June with temperatures averaging between 10oC - 22oC; Summer starts around late June to early September with temperatures ranging from 22oC - 30oC; Autumn can be enjoyed from mid-September to November with temperatures spanning from 20oC - 7oC; and Winter leads off from December to February with temperatures varying between 0oC - 6oC.
Language
Korean is the official language and the main medium of communication.
What To Wear
Light clothing in cotton or linen is recommended through summer. Light sweater and winter woollies are required during cooler seasons.
Electricity
The standard voltage in Korea is 220 volts. The power plugs used in Korea are of two-pin, round-shaped type. A multi-voltage adapter may be requested from most hotel front desk.
Drinking Water
It is safe to drink water from the tap after boiling in Korea.
Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in most public areas and on all public transport.
Passport Information
Valid passport required by all. Passport should be valid for at least six months even for those in transit to neighbouring countries. Return ticket required. Contact the Embassy before departure.
Visa And Entry Facilities
Foreign visitors are required to obtain a Korea visa before arrival. However, some countries can enter Korea without a visa for periods of 30 days to 90 days. It is recommended to contact the Embassy or your tour agent regarding visa applications and requirements before leaving your country.
Banking
Generally, banking hours are Mondays to Fridays from 0900hrs to 1600hrs.
Korean Currency
The Korea currency is the won (KRW). Won bills are available in denominations of KRW1,000, KRW5,000, KRW10,000 and KRW50,000. Coins are in denominations of 10, 50, 100 and 500 won cents. |
