Getting Around
Enjoy the convenience and comfort of getting around Singapore in our public transports ranging from the Mass Rapid Transport (MRT), Buses to Taxis.

Climate
Tropical, hot and humid with temperatures averaging between 23oC - 30oC with heavy rainfall from November to January.

Language
Mandarin, Malay and Tamil, with English as the main medium of communication.

What To Wear
Casual light summer clothes is best for everyday wear. A more formal dress code may be required for some establisments. It is advisable to check beforehand on dress regulations as required.

Electricity
Singapore voltage is 220-240 volts AC, 50 cycles per second. The power plugs used in Singapore are of three-pin, square-shaped type.

Drinking Water
It is perfectly safe to drink water directly from the tap in Singapore.

Smoking
Smoking is prohibited in most public areas and on all public transport.

Passport Information
Valid passport required by all. Passport should be valid for at least six months even for those in transit to neighbouring countries. Return ticket required. Contact the Embassy before departure.

Visa And Entry Facilities
Overseas visitors who do not require visas for entry to Singapore as tourists may be given up to 30-day social visit passes upon their arrival in Singapore. It is recommended to contact the Embassy or your tour agent regarding visa applications and requirements before leaving your country.

Banking
Generally, banking hours are Mondays to Fridays from 0900hrs to 1500hrs and Saturdays from 0930hrs to 1300hrs (some banks open until 1500hrs). Selective banks along Orchard Road operate on Sundays from 0930hrs to 1500hrs.

Singapore Currency
The Singapore currency is available in dollars and cents. Dollar notes come in denominations of SGD2, SGD5, SGD10, SGD50, SGD100, SGD500, SGD1,000 and SGD10,000. Coins are in denominations of 5, 10, 20 and 50 cents as well as SGD1.
