Welcome to Vietnam. Upon arrival, you will be met at the airport by your guide for private transfer to your hotel (approx 45mins) for check-in. Please note standard check-in time is at 14:00

The rest of your day is at leisure to enjoy your hotel and new surroundings. Depending on the arrival time for your flight we may switch the itinerary to include a short tour.

Vietnam’s capital Hanoi blends old world charm with the dynamic bustle of new Asia. Its French colonial past is evident from the colonial architecture and enchanting lakes which contrast with the throng of thousands of motorbikes and cosmopolitan new restaurants and boutiques. To the north of central Hoan Kiem Lake lies the frenetic maze of narrow streets of the Old Quarter while to the south are the broad tree-lined boulevards and majestic buildings of the French Quarter.

For dinner, we would recommend either the Red Bean Restaurant in the hotel or Ngon Villa…we can make reservations and provide transport if required. Or perhaps you want to venture out….

Optional Evening Tour:
The Ionah Show (With Transfers)
A girl named Ionah (Hanoi spelt backwards) enters a journey of self-discovery and this plays out in a magical Cirque Du Soleil performance incorporating dynamic sound, music, acrobatics, and dance…Great visuals & a few surprises, plus some cool break dancing all make this show a great way to introduce the children to Vietnam.

There is nothing more exciting than waking up in a new country…so after a hearty breakfast lets go exploring…

Start your tour at the mausoleum of the historic figure and father of modern Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh (viewed from the outside). Then it’s on to a wooden ethnic minority style house which was his temporary residence from 1954 to 1969. In the same complex you will see the One Pillar Pagoda, founded by King Ly Thai To in 1049 which has become an important symbol for the people of Hanoi. Continue to West Lake and one of the oldest Buddhist pagodas in Hanoi, Tran Quoc, and the nearby Taoist temple of Quan Thanh which dates from the Ly Dynasty.

Your next stop is the Temple of Literature, Vietnam’s first university. Constructed in 1070, the gardens and well-preserved architecture offer a glimpse into Vietnam’s past.
Fed up of museums…the next one may change your mind…..

In the afternoon you will visit the Museum of Ethnology, where you can get some lunch in the gardens and enter to see and wander amongst the interactive exhibits that represent the cultural traditions of Vietnams 54 ethnic groups. It’s a great afternoon for the children to touch, climb and enter replicas of houses and villages from the more rural areas. There is the opportunity to see a Vietnamese Water puppetry show here dependent on timings. However at 3pm…you must be back in central Hanoi at the Metropole Hotel for the legendary Chocolate Buffet….following this we will take a walk through the streets of Hanoi’s Old Quarter…Maybe you will find ‘Toy Street?!

Depending on the children we can either arrange dinner at a local Pho (noodle soup) establishment or you can relax and have an early night…

‘Commonly referred to as Saigon, Ho Chi Minh City is Vietnam’s largest city and undisputed commercial capital. It is a dynamic city that is currently enjoying the fruits of Vietnam’s economic boom – lavish hotels, decadent restaurants, and trendy nightspots are continually added to the cityscape. Yet against the backdrop of new-found confidence, frenetic development, and urban bustle, the boutique charm of Ho Chi Minh City still lives on amongst the tree-lined boulevards, quaint wooden shops, old temples and colonial architecture.’

You will enjoy lunch at the Temple Club restaurant, an upscale downtown hang-out made famous by Angelina Jolie & Brad Pit when they had dinner here. The décor and atmosphere are a mixture of Indian, European and Chinese and a ‘must try’ are the pork & shrimp spring rolls.

Criss-crossed with canals and tributaries, this fertile region is where much of Vietnam’s produce is grown. Alongside the lush green rice fields, fruit orchards, and picturesque waterways you’ll find riverside settlements bustling with traditional industries, laidback cities, and a few remaining floating markets, all offering an insight into rural Vietnamese life.’

On arrival, board your boat for a cruise in the delta’s waterways. Start your journey by passing by Cai Be’s floating market once a busy place to trade fruits and vegetables and nowadays a quiet although quaint local market.
