Bohol Cultural and Heritage Tour

Bohol holds some of the Philippines' least-replicated cultural heritage, and this tour is structured around the places where that heritage is still actively practised rather than preserved behind glass. The Bohol Cultural and Heritage Tour builds from the regional museum in Tagbilaran through the Cultural Village to the Asin Tibook salt-making process, a technique unique to the Philippines, before closing at the Loboc River.

The pacing of the day moves from interpretation to participation, with each successive stop bringing guests closer to active heritage practice and ending with a meal in a setting that anchors the experience in the landscape.

Highlights

  • National Museum (Tagbilaran): The tour opens at the regional branch of the National Museum in Tagbilaran, covering artefacts, cultural objects, traditional music, clothing, and historical documentation from Bohol and the surrounding Visayan provinces.
  • Bohol Cultural Village: The village presents traditional Visayan cultural life through live demonstrations and activities covering different aspects of pre-colonial and colonial-era Bohol society. The presentation is activity-based rather than exhibit-only.
  • Asin Tibook Salt Making: Asin Tibook is a traditional Philippine salt-making method produced by filtering saltwater through burnt coconut husks, resulting in a smoky, mineral-rich salt distinct from industrial sea salt. The process is kept alive by only a handful of producers in Bohol.
  • Loboc River Floating Restaurant Lunch: The day ends with lunch on a floating restaurant cruising the Loboc River, moving through forest-lined waterway while local cuisine is served on board. The combination of river scenery and the meal provides a natural close to the day.
