JTB Indonesia's Commitment to a Brighter Earth

As part of the JTB Brighter Earth Project, JTB Indonesia is organizing an impactful environmental initiative at Jimbaran, Bali on 11th July 2025. This program brings together local fishermen, JTB employees, and community members for a day of meaningful engagement with nature. The dual activities of mangrove planting and mangrove cleanup will have a lasting impact on the local ecosystem and contribute to the protection of the coastal environment.

Why Mangrove Maters?

Mangrove forests are one of the most important coastal ecosystems on the planet. They act as a natural buffer, preventing coastal erosion and reducing the impact of storms and surges. More importantly, mangroves absorb significant amounts of CO2, playing a crucial role in climate change mitigation. They are also vital for local biodiversity, offering a habitat for numerous species of marine life, birds, and other wildlife.

The Mangrove Planting Activity

The first part of the program focuses on planting mangroves along the coastline at Jimbaran, Bali. By planting young mangrove saplings, we aim to restore vital ecosystems that will support wildlife, protect coastal communities, and help combat the adverse effects of climate change. The collaboration with local fishermen further strengthens the community's involvement in environmental conservation, as they depend on the health of these ecosystems for their livelihoods.

The Mangrove Cleanup

In addition to planting mangroves, mangrove cleanup is equally crucial in protecting the health of these ecosystems. This part of the program will involve cleaning the mangrove area of debris and waste that often accumulate in coastal environments. This waste, largely from human activities, can negatively affect plant and animal life in these habitats. The cleanup will not only help maintain the natural beauty of Jimbaran but will also ensure that the newly planted mangroves have a better chance of survival and growth.
