JTB Indonesia Steps Up for Women's Safety at Work
On May 8, 2026, PT JTB Indonesia held a panel discussion on women's protection, a topic that matters both inside the office and in the communities around it. Titled "Protection of Women in the Workplace and Community: Together to Prevent Exploitation and Harassment," the session brought together company staff, local community leaders, and expert speakers to address exploitation and harassment directly and practically.
The event was held at the PT JTB Indonesia office on Jl. Bypass Ngurah Rai No. 88, with approximately 38 participants, including staff and representatives from nine surrounding local banjar communities. Speakers from UPTD PPA Bali and LBH Bali Women Crisis Center led the discussions, bringing expertise in prevention, legal aid, and victim support.
A Shared Space for Learning and Action
The seminar gave participants room to understand how harassment and exploitation actually happen, and what to do when they do. The discussion covered five key areas: recognising exploitation and harassment against women, understanding women's rights at work and in the community, knowing how to report and handle cases, creating environments where people feel safe to speak up, and building stronger ties between companies, support institutions, and local communities.
Throughout the session, participants asked questions and shared perspectives drawn from their own workplaces and neighbourhoods, grounding the discussion in the situations people actually face.
Insights from Expert Speakers
Two speakers brought depth and credibility to the panel. Luh Made Seriarningsih, S.Kom, MAP, Head of UPTD PPA Bali, walked participants through women and child protection frameworks, prevention approaches, and how to access official support. Ni Nengah Budawati, S.H., M.H, Director of LBH Bali Women Crisis Center, focused on the legal side: victim accompaniment, reporting steps, and what case assistance actually looks like in practice.
Together, they helped the room see the issue from legal, social, and personal angles, making the conversation easier to translate into action.
Key Takeaways from the Discussion
Among the most important messages shared during the seminar were the following highlights that participants were encouraged to carry forward:
-
Safety is a basic human right. Every woman deserves a workplace and community that protects her dignity, safety, and freedom from fear.
-
Harassment takes many forms. It can happen through physical actions, verbal comments, pressure, threats, or digital messages.
-
Silent cases need safe channels. Many victims stay quiet out of fear — of stigma, of blame, or of losing their job. Trusted reporting systems change that.
-
Workplaces can be safe spaces. Companies can put support teams, safe rooms, and clear procedures in place for staff who need them.
Speakers also stressed the value of documentation. Saving chats, screenshots, recordings, and other evidence gives victims something concrete to work with when seeking help or legal support.
Building Safer Workplaces Together
What made this event notable wasn't just the content — it was who was in the room. By bringing together PT JTB Indonesia staff and representatives from nine local banjar communities, the seminar acknowledged something important: women's protection doesn't stop at the office door. It's a community issue, and it needs a community response.
PT JTB Indonesia connected its people with legal experts, opened up conversations that don't always happen at work, and gave everyone in the room practical tools to use when it counts. That's the kind of effort that builds real trust with staff, local communities, and the destinations we work in.
