Nestled in Malaysia's serene landscape, the Kuala Gandah Elephant Sanctuary, established in 1989 by the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, is dedicated to elephant rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation. As Malaysia's only elephant relocation center, it plays a crucial role in protecting these majestic creatures, offering visitors a unique, hands-on experience that supports wildlife conservation efforts.
The sanctuary’s Elephant Relocation Team has been active since 1974, tasked with tracking and relocating wild elephants displaced by habitat loss, mainly due to agricultural development. But the sanctuary isn't just about relocation—it's about raising awareness, providing care for injured elephants, and fostering a deeper understanding of the challenges elephants face in the wild.
